Clearwater Fire Department History

On June 1, 1948, the Clearwater Village Council purchased a new fire truck from Luverne Fire Apparatus Co.  Several members from the council and a representative from the fire department went to accept the truck .  The equipment consisted of a 1,200 gallon supply tank, 200 gallon per minute pump driven from power take-off and other items needed to make up a complete firefighting unit.  A fire department was at that time being organized with 25 men enrolled.  The men met twice a week and continued to do so until cold weather when they agreed to meet twice a month.  The Chief at the time was Oscar Strommer and Assitant Chief Orin Oatman.
